GPON/GEPON solutions combine the simplicity of Ethernet with the high durability of passive components, ensuring lower operating expense for service providers. The GPON/GEPON platform is an extremely cost-effective alternative to conventional access equipment, reducing points of failure and maintenance spend and effectively simplifying network architecture. The cost of fiber and its deployment expense has also been lowered quite substantially recently, making the service much more cost-effective from both the subscriber and operator perspective. FTTx, or GPON/GEPON in particular, supports multiple applications and services including VoIP, enterprise focused services, “Triple Play” services and RF Overlay, among others.
